Hello:

My name is Leticia Gerber; I am originally from Monterrey but have spent the past four years living in China. I am teaching Spanish Language and Culture here at ASFM, which I taught these last four years at Dulwich College Beijing. I had students from all over the world (47 different nationalities) to whom I taught the British National Curriculum, the International Baccalaureate Program and the International General Certificate of Education (IGCSE). This was a great opportunity as it gave me a chance to see how Spanish is taught to second language learners through a variety of different approaches. I think I have been able to steal the best parts of all of these!

I have both my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Law from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, my Master of Education degree from Columbus University in Panama,
and the Cambridge International Certificate for teachers and trainers from the University of Cambridge in England.

I know what it’s like to be living in a country where you cannot speak the language (my Mandarin is still not very good!) and I hope that through my class I will be able to make this process easier for my students. By learning to communicate in Spanish, the rich culture of Mexico and the million things that Monterrey has to offer can become accessible in a way that is not possible for non-Spanish speakers. I love México, and I hope that with my help each of my students will grow to love it as much as I do. If there is anything I can do to help make your experience in Monterrey and your time at ASFM more rewarding, please do not hesitate to ask me.
